Here you can discuss the beta releases of Keyword Manager

Keyword Manager 1.5b2

Postby Johan » Tue Feb 24, 2009 10:17 pm

Here is the second beta release:

http://www.bullstorm.se/Keyword%20Manag ... 01.5b2.zip

Changes since the first beta version:
  • Fixed a memory leak
  • Keyword button on main window works now
  • Should be faster to delete keywords in big libraries (please test this if you can)

Same warnings apply to this release: Make sure you have a backed up photo library.

Hello,

Thank you so much for providing an updated (albeit beta) version of KeyWord Manager. iPhoto doesn't seem complete without it and now I have got essential features back.

Here is something I have noticed, while going through tagging some pictures I hadn't yet tagged.

Sometimes you start typing a keyword you know is in your database already and after a few characters you are returned to the beginning of the box and that box was cleared in the meantime.

I am not sure it is easy to understand, but basically what happens you type, it disappears and you need to start over again - it can take a few times over until you can add your keyword again.

Also Keyword Manager seems to slow down and need a while to catch up on some operations, though I haven't been able to isolate the precise occurance.

You guys are awesome, keep up the good word!

This version of Keyword Manager is a free upgrade for all registered users of older versions of KM. Your registration code should work. However we have blocked a couple of registration codes that have been leaked onto pirate sites. If this is the case with your registration code (*) we will contact you shortly with a new registration code, which you will have to be more careful with in the future.

(*) Does your registration code start with CNWT? In that case it has been blocked.

iPhoto version: 7.1.5
System version: 10.5.6
Processor architecture (Intel or PPC): PPC iMac G4
Console output: Don't know.
Description of the problem: KM doesn't show, even after uninstalling, replacing SIMBL, and reinstalling KM 1.5b2
any Crash dumps: Don't know of any.

It's a wonderful product that worked fine with my OS 10.4.11, and am looking forward to being able to use it again.

Thanks! :)

KM 1.5b2 seems to be working fine now for me with a library of 2,404 pix after I:

1. Trashed SIMBL, Uninstalled old KM, and Installed new KM, but KM didn't show on Menu
2. Repaired Permissions
3. AGAIN Trashed SIMBL, Uninstalled old KM, and Installed new KM

SO good to have it back! :)

Any progress, Johan? Just curious, not antsy.

With all the changes going on with iPhoto, and Safari, I can well imagine that this update is a bi*ch. I'm glad I'm not the one trying to figure it out. :D

But if you get a moment... LOVE to hear a progress report. - JamesJM

Hmm, I thought I posted a beta 3 yesterday, but that message seems to have disappeared... Anyway, you can download a new beta version here:

http://www.bullstorm.se/Keyword%20Manag ... 01.5b3.zip

I'm hoping that this version will improve the freezing delays when moving keywords around. Please try it and see if it helps.

I haven't had the chance yet to put it to a real test - but what little I've seen definitely seems to be faster and I have not had a freeze yet. I think you may have solved the problem. Good work - JamesJM

Thanks for posting the new version; it's great to have Keyword Manager again!

I did find a couple things that I haven't seen mentioned yet -

1) I manage multiple libraries, and when switching between libraries, iPhoto reverts back to the stock keyword setup, requiring me to delete the SIMBL folder and reinstall KM to regain its functionality.

2) I can't assign a keyword from within a smart album. The stock keyword setup may have been that way too; I can't remember since I've been using KM for so long. If that's normally the case, then disregard this one.

Thanks again for all your hard work; I'm looking forward to the final release.
